About
Problem:
Due to the diversity of future objectives or hometown, long-distance relationships are commonly existing among college student couples. While over 60% of college student couples have had the experience of being in a long-distance relationship, their ability to deal with the extension in physical distance does not match the commonality of the type of relationship, making the break up rate during their long-distance period dramatically high.
Solution:
Through exhaustive investigation on the population, I found one typical cause of the failure of long-distance relationships is the shortage of emotional communication due to the lack of physical contact. Therefore, I designed “Potted Love” as a solution to offer long-distance college student couples a way to better communicate their emotion through “colored light” and a motivation to do such communication through converting virtual messages into physical decorations.
